Steam achievement lists for a significant number of unreleased and unannounced PC games have reportedly leaked, appearing on the third-party achievement tracking site Exophase. The leak seemingly includes data for highly anticipated titles such as Atlus's RPG Persona 6, RGG brawler Stranger Than Heaven, and Thief: The Dark Project Remastered. Other affected games allegedly include Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of the Hawk.
The achievement data was compiled by Gematsu from Exophase. According to Mike Bendel, the owner of Exophase who goes by the handle x3sphere, the incident appears to be a mistake on Valve's part. Bendel stated on ResetEra that a number of game achievements, which should have remained private, are currently accessible via the API, leading to their scan by the site. He noted that games typically do not appear with achievements unless they have an official name, but several unknown titles have recently shown achievement lists.
Players who choose to investigate these leaked lists should exercise caution, as they may contain major spoilers for the games in question. This warning is particularly relevant for Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Mega Man: Dual Override, but spoilers can also be found in lists for seemingly less narrative-driven games like the driving game Clutch.
Early observations from the leaked lists offer glimpses into potential game content. For instance, Fable appears to have an achievement titled "Cost of Living Crisis." Ken Levine's upcoming game Judas reportedly has a placeholder trophy for achieving 10 kills, suggesting a possible early game objective. Stranger Than Heaven may include an achievement for smoking 20 or more hand-rolled cigarettes.
