Steam Next Fest Features Over 1000 Demos for Upcoming PC Games

Steam's Fall Next Fest is now underway, offering PC players a substantial opportunity to sample upcoming titles through free playable demos. The event, running until October 26, presents a wide array of games, providing a chance for players to discover their next favorite indie title before major releases later in the year.

This year's festival is particularly expansive, reportedly featuring more than double the number of demos compared to the previous fall event. This increase, attributed in part to the growing prevalence of AI-generated content in game development, presents a challenge in identifying standout experiences. To help navigate the extensive list, several promising demos have been highlighted.

Among the featured demos is At Fate's End, the latest project from Spiritfarer developer Thunder Lotus. This title blends 2D action gameplay with a narrative-driven family drama, offering a compelling combat sequence between two sisters.

For fans of kaiju battles, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered offers a look at a revamped classic. This demo showcases updated visuals and online play for the GameCube cult favorite.

El Paso, Elsewhere 2, the anticipated sequel from developer Strange Scaffold, provides a glimpse into its evolved slow-motion action gameplay. The demo allows players to experience more open environments and new enemy types.

My Arms Are Longer Now, a comedy game from Toot Games, lets players control an impossibly long arm to cause chaotic, slapstick scenarios. The demo highlights its wacky humor and sandbox-like interactions.

Curse of Resthaven, a narrative roguelike from Hilltop Studios, challenges players to solve a mystery on a cursed island within a time loop. The demo covers a full six-day loop, with progress carrying over to the full release.

Guns of Eschaton, a visually striking first-person shooter blending grim fantasy and western elements from art director Viktor Antonov, features an updated demo with a new character archetype. The game is set for an early December release.

Splatchinko, a cosmic horror Pachinko roguelike, offers a chaotic space-themed experience with Lovecraftian elements. Its demo allows players to explore unique buildcrafting possibilities.

Dumpster Gang provides a cooperative multiplayer experience where players embody raccoons tasked with stealing and causing mischief, drawing comparisons to Untitled Goose Game.

Talaka, a roguelike from Potato Kid, stands out with its hand-painted visual style and its narrative steeped in Afro-Brazilian mythology.

Finally, Tearoom of Terror combines shop management simulation with a murder mystery. Players inherit a tearoom and must solve the mystery of their aunt's murder by brewing drinks and interacting with suspects. The demo is available now, with the full game expected early next year.
