Actor Stephen Root has officially confirmed his involvement in Rockstar Games' upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto VI. Root, whose unmistakable voice has graced numerous iconic roles, revealed his participation in an interview with the Associated Press. He stated, "Yeeaahhh, you’re gonna see me in that," referring to the game.

Root will be voicing the character Brian Heder, described as a drug trafficker and a significant figure in the protagonist's journey. The actor noted that his involvement was anticipated by many due to his recognizable vocal performances, citing his work on projects like King of the Hill as an example. Root has had a prolific four-decade career in film and television, with notable appearances in Office Space, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men, and more recently, Barry. His extensive voice acting credits also contribute to his widespread recognition.

His presence in the game was first strongly hinted at when in-game footage was revealed by Rockstar during a Netflix special. At the time, many viewers pointed out the similarity of the character's voice to Root's. The official confirmation now puts speculation to rest.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19. The game will launch at midnight in all time zones worldwide.
