Stick It to the Stickman, the roguelite beat 'em up developed by Free Lives, is set to leave early access and launch its 1.0 version on September 23. The game, which involves players fighting through a corporate environment using presentation materials as weapons, has been in development for over a year. Free Lives has announced that development will conclude on certain planned modes, such as 'Rise of the Machines' and 'Marketing Department,' prioritizing the mental health of its development team. The team has scaled back from eight to four developers since 2021 to complete the game.
Despite the adjustments, the full release will include two new modes: Neurolink and a mode described as an "absolutely absurd finale." Additionally, the existing Foreign Manufacturing mode will receive two new playstyles: a teleporting ninja and a moneybag-wielding negotiator. The early access version was noted for its cathartic and chaotic stickperson combat within a corporate setting.
Following its transition to full release, Stick It to the Stickman will see a price increase to $12 USD or its regional equivalent. Currently, the game is available at a discounted price of £4.19/€4.89/$4.89 on Steam until August 21. A free demo is also available on the game's Steam page for those wishing to try it before purchasing.
