Street Fighter Cast Open to Mortal Kombat Crossover Film

The cast of the upcoming Street Fighter movie has voiced strong interest in a potential crossover film with the Mortal Kombat franchise. In interviews conducted ahead of the film's release, actors expressed enthusiasm for the idea of pitting their characters against the fighters of Earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon had previously indicated his desire for a Street Fighter character to appear in a Mortal Kombat game, calling himself a "huge fan" of Capcom's fighting game series. This sentiment appears to be shared by the Street Fighter actors.

Andrew Schulz, who is part of the Street Fighter movie cast, joked that his appearance at The Game Awards was an attempt to set up such a collaboration. "This is what we were trying to do at [The Game Awards]! We’re trying to set this thing up!" Schulz stated.

Cody Rhodes echoed this sentiment, adding, "That’s what we were trying to do." Eric Andre also chimed in with enthusiasm for a crossover, comparing it to a potential Flintstones/Jetsons team-up and declaring, "We’re in. Let’s go."

Other cast members, including Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and Callina Liang, also expressed their eagerness. Koji specifically mentioned Marvel vs. Capcom as another potential crossover opportunity. "Hell yeah," Koji said regarding the Mortal Kombat idea. "I said yes, because I’ve got friends in Mortal Kombat."

Centineo stated, "I love the girl who plays Kitana. I’ve met Adeline a few times. She’s awesome." He further elaborated on his desire for more Street Fighter content, saying, "I’m down for Marvel... If you bring an opportunity to us to be able to come back and reup these incredible characters, I’m down, and I know we’re all down. So if that’s Mortal Kombat, if that’s me kicking Thor in his face, you know?"

Mel Jarnson, who plays a character in both the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat movies, addressed the complexity of such a project. Despite the potential challenge of appearing in both franchises, she expressed willingness, stating, "It would be epic! And you would bring Nitara back to life. Sew her back up. She’d be like half-blonde, with a wing. Half-Cammy, half-Nitara."

While the feasibility of a Mortal Kombat x Street Fighter film remains uncertain, the enthusiasm from the cast suggests a strong interest in exploring such a crossover. Both franchises have a history of guest characters and inter-series collaborations, making the prospect not entirely unprecedented.

The Street Fighter movie is scheduled for release in theaters on October 16, 2026.
