Fifteen years after the release of Stronghold 3, Firefly Studios has announced Stronghold 4, a new installment in the castle-building and siege warfare series. The game is slated for release in 2026 and is now available to wishlist on Steam. The announcement was made during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, accompanied by a trailer showcasing the game's features.
Stronghold 4 aims to deliver the series' signature blend of castle construction and siege combat with numerous refinements. The trailer highlighted several key features, including seven-CPU skirmishes and 14 distinct battlefields. Players will design and defend their own fortresses while laying siege to those of their enemies.
A notable addition in Stronghold 4 is a rogue's gallery of eight unique enemy lords, each with their own distinct personalities and designs. These antagonists add a layer of character to the medieval conflict.
The game will feature a variety of strongholds, ranging from simple wooden structures to complex stone fortresses, offering diverse defensive and offensive scenarios. Players will have extensive tools to customize their castles, building structures that can withstand prolonged assaults or serve as launching points for their own attacks.
The Stronghold series has a long history, with previous titles focusing on both the defensive and offensive aspects of medieval siege warfare. Stronghold 4 continues this tradition, promising a deep simulation of castle life and warfare.
Players can wishlist Stronghold 4 on Steam now, with the game expected to launch in 2026.
