Independent studio GPTRACK50, founded by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, formerly of Capcom, has announced that its action-RPG Stupid Never Dies will launch on October 21 for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. The game was initially revealed at last year's The Game Awards ceremony.
Stupid Never Dies follows Davy, a zombie protagonist who embarks on a quest to revive a frozen human girl named Julia. Navigating a society ruled by monsters, Davy, at the bottom of the social ladder as a zombie, must overcome numerous challenges to achieve his goal. His journey will involve customizing his undead body with various upgrades and acquiring abilities from enemies such as demons, vampires, werewolves, and ghosts.
A new trailer showcases Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers, a character whose appearance is described as reminiscent of Lil Nas X's "Montero" music video and Johnny Gat from Saints Row, featuring fiery wings. The trailer also offers a glimpse of the game's fashion-forward and visually striking aesthetic.
The game will be co-published by Sega, known for the Persona series. "We are delighted and deeply grateful to Sega for their publishing partnership and support as we bring the first of many games from GPTRACK50 to players," stated Hiroyuki Kobayashi, president of GPTRACK50. "Stupid Never Dies is an ambitious action game that introduces a number of original gameplay systems, and working with a publisher as experienced as Sega has been invaluable."
The first DLC for Stupid Never Dies, titled TickTock Teddies: Nonsense Overload, will offer bonus content for the game's background music and visuals. Additionally, the game's soundtrack will be available to stream on platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music starting August 4, prior to the game's release.
