DC is partnering with Penguin Random House Audio to release a full-cast audiobook adaptation of Tom King and Bilquis Evely's "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," the comic that served as inspiration for the recent Supergirl film. The audio production is set to debut this fall.
The eight-issue comic book series will be adapted into an audio drama featuring a full cast, innovative sound effects, and original music. Roshan Singh Sambhi, known for his work as a co-showrunner on DC Comics' audio drama "DC High Volume: Batman," is directing and producing the adaptation. He described the project as a "love letter" to the comic, aiming to meticulously recreate its visual storytelling in an audio format.
"Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" follows Kara Zor-El as she grapples with the loss of her home planet and struggles to adapt to Earth. Her journey takes a turn when an alien girl named Ruthye, whose family has been murdered by a pirate, enlists Supergirl's aid. This quest provides Kara with an opportunity to forge her own identity.
The audiobook will feature Marcella Lentz-Pope as Supergirl, an actress previously known for her role as Corrin in the Fire Emblem series and for playing Vera in the animated movie "Superman vs. The Elite." Amelia Tyler, recognized for her work in "Baldur's Gate 3," will voice Ruthye, with Lim Shi-An portraying a younger Ruthye. Jon Bailey will voice Krem and Krypto, while Marc Thompson takes on the role of Zor-El, Ellen Adair as Alura, and Tan Kheng Hua as Ruthye's mother.
The audiobook adaptation of "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" is scheduled for release on September 1.
