Bandai Namco's PvPvE mecha game, Synduality: Echo of Ada, will cease online server operations in May 2027, just two years after its launch. The publisher plans to replace the online component with a new offline PvE mode, allowing players to continue engaging with the game's world and mechanics without the threat of other human players.
Launched as a central pillar of a larger multimedia franchise, Synduality: Echo of Ada struggled to attract a significant player base. On Steam, its peak concurrent player count barely exceeded 3,000. Despite this, Bandai Namco has provided consistent updates since its release.
The game's core loop involves using mechs to scavenge for supplies while battling mutated creatures and rival salvagers. A key mechanic is the severe penalty for death in the open world: players lose all collected materials and their current mecha. This risk-reward system, particularly when ambushed by other players, led to frustration for some.
Players have expressed a desire for an offline mode that focuses on PvE encounters, a sentiment that the upcoming offline version appears to address. This shift away from player-vs-player conflict could potentially appeal to a broader audience and provide a more focused experience on exploration and story. Digital currency sales for the game will conclude on December 17, 2026, ahead of the server transition.
