Teamfight Tactics Set 18, titled "Enchanted Wilds," is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, August 26, alongside patch 18.1. This new set will bring a familiar mechanic back to the game, known as Wisps, which function similarly to Charms from Set 12: "Magic N' Mayhem." Players will need to purchase these Wisps from the shop, as they offer potent buffs or economic advantages. The set also introduces new units, including jungle minions making their way into the arena.
Release Schedule
The release time for "Enchanted Wilds" will vary by region. The Oceania server will receive the update first, followed by North America. Expected release times are as follows:
- North America: 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT
- United Kingdom and Western Europe: 9 a.m. BST / 10 a.m. CEST
- Eastern Europe: 8 a.m. EEST
- East Coast Australia: 9 a.m. AEST
These times are based on previous set releases and League of Legends' update cadence, but Riot Games notes that maintenance periods can fluctuate, potentially leading to earlier or later server availability.
Gameplay Additions and Engine Shift
Wisps will appear as an alternative to a unit in the rightmost slot of the shop. Purchasing a Wisp costs gold and reveals the unit that was originally in that shop slot. If a Wisp is not bought, a new one will appear in the shop every other refresh. Beyond new units and mechanics, Teamfight Tactics is transitioning to the Unreal Engine. While the core gameplay is expected to remain the same, the new engine may introduce subtle differences in feel and performance. Riot Games plans to release a standalone client for TFT a few patches into the "Enchanted Wilds" set.
This engine transition may also result in initial bugs, and players are encouraged to report any issues they encounter. A significant change due to the engine shift is that Teamfight Tactics will not be playable on macOS at launch. The development team is reportedly working on a macOS build, but an estimated release date has not yet been provided. Despite these changes, the core game experience of "Enchanted Wilds" is expected to offer fresh strategic depth for players.
