Tekken 8's Reina Joins Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Roster

Reina, a character introduced in Tekken 8, is set to become a playable fighter in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The announcement was made via a brief teaser trailer released by SNK Official. This marks another significant guest character addition for City of the Wolves, which has already confirmed appearances from characters like Chun-Li from Street Fighter and Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

Reina is speculated to be the daughter of Heihachi Mishima. Her inclusion continues a trend of cross-brand character appearances, following Tekken 7's inclusion of Geese Howard, a primary antagonist from the Fatal Fury series. The teaser trailer offers limited details, but the translation of Reina's Mishima-style fighting techniques into the Fatal Fury gameplay system is anticipated.

This news follows recent trailers for Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji, characters from the Tokyo Revengers manga series, who are scheduled to join South Town on October 22. Reina is expected to be released in December, preceding the November release of Laocorn. Her addition comes amid ongoing community discussions about the prevalence of guest characters in fighting games, a debate that intensified following the announcement of Sano.

Eagle-eyed players had previously anticipated Reina's arrival, noting that the purple hue featured in Season 3's aesthetic aligned with the character's visual design. In the teaser, she is initially shown as a silhouette.

In Tekken 8, Reina is considered a challenging character to master due to her extensive moveset and relatively weak low attacks. Advanced players often compensate by leveraging her unbreakable throws and stance changes. Currently, Reina holds a pick rate of 3.1% in Tekken 8's ranked mode with a 46% win rate. It remains to be seen how her character will perform and be perceived within the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves meta.
