July's IGN First spotlight shines on The Blood of Dawnwalker, an upcoming RPG from developer Rebel Wolves. The game centers on Coen, a character who experiences a dual existence as a human by day and a vampire by night. His struggle to balance these two aspects of his life is crucial to saving his family from a malevolent vampire court.
An eight-minute gameplay video released by IGN provides a glimpse into one of the game's prologue quests, titled "In Deep Down." This segment features a younger Coen, before his transformation, exploring an underground ruin. His objective is to locate a missing local man named Lazar. During his exploration, Coen uncovers ancient lore and hints of hidden treasure by examining a mural.
The gameplay footage demonstrates an investigation system that players can utilize to uncover hidden lore and discover special loot. The sequence culminates in a boss battle against an enemy known as The Forgotten Guardian.
Rebel Wolves is composed of many former CD Projekt Red staff, and the RPG is helmed by the director of The Witcher 3. The IGN First coverage throughout July will delve deeper into various aspects of The Blood of Dawnwalker, including developer interviews discussing the vampire court, skill trees, the game's fantasy races, and its time and narrative systems. Additional gameplay will also be released.
