In The Blood of Dawnwalker, players face a pivotal decision regarding the game's formidable vampire lords. These powerful beings, known as vrakhiri, have wreaked havoc across Vale Sangora, leaving a trail of destruction and death. Despite their villainous actions, the game presents an opportunity to invite their souls into the player character, Coen, a choice that, surprisingly, carries no negative consequences and even offers significant benefits.

Acquiring Vampire Souls

To initiate the process of inviting a vrakhiri's soul, players must first increase their Infamy level by sabotaging the operations of the vampire boyars. Once a vampire lord is sufficiently angered, a quest will trigger, offering the chance to defeat them permanently. During the post-battle encounter, provided it is nighttime or Coen is in vampire form, players will be presented with an option to drink the defeated lord's blood. This act not only grants the player a unique skill associated with that vampire but also transports them to Anachora, a realm described as a 'hell for every damned vampiric soul.'

The Role of Souls in Anachora

Upon arrival in Anachora, players can converse with the souls of the defeated vampire lords. These interactions vary, with some begging for mercy while others express contentment with their eternal torment. Through dialogue choices, players can explicitly invite these souls to meld with Coen's consciousness. These integrated souls primarily offer commentary, ranging from snide remarks to warnings about impending dangers, functioning as a constant, albeit not overly intrusive, presence. It is also possible to encounter ancient lords or ally souls within Anachora, stemming from companion quest chains.

Impact on the Final Battle

The strategic value of these absorbed vampire souls becomes apparent during the campaign's climax. When players confront the main antagonist, Brencis, the second phase of the battle shifts to Anachora. During this phase, Brencis transforms into the Grotesque Ascendant. If players have successfully invited the souls of Ambrus, Bakir, and/or Xanthe, they will periodically intervene in the fight, attacking Brencis. These spectral allies unleash their signature moves, such as Bakir's flying kicks, Ambrus' twirling slashes, and Xanthe's bloody whips, providing crucial support against the transformed boss. Therefore, the decision to invite vampire lords in The Blood of Dawnwalker proves to be a beneficial strategic choice for players.
