The upcoming first major patch for the blood-drinking time-management sim, The Blood of Dawnwalker, will introduce a new difficulty setting designed for players who wish to experience the game's narrative without engaging in combat. This new mode will be even easier than the current Story difficulty, which still requires players to fight.
"We will add a new Story mode which will be even easier for people who don’t want to experience the combat," said Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game's director, in an interview with Eurogamer. The current "story" mode will be renamed, and the new mode will prioritize the narrative experience over combat encounters. It remains to be seen how this will affect certain gameplay elements, such as boss fights or the game's system of escalating enemy presence based on player actions.
The patch will also bring several combat adjustments. Targeting mechanics will be modified to ensure players remain locked onto a stunned target for longer, requiring three hits to break the stun. This change aims to offer more control during encounters with multiple enemies. Additionally, the update will introduce improvements to the combat escape system, addressing issues where players could become stuck on geometry while attempting to disengage from fights.
The patch is scheduled for release in early October. Tomaszkiewicz also hinted at the possibility of a New Game Plus mode being added in the future, though he declined to provide further details at this time.
