The recently released fantasy role-playing game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, has captured the attention of players, with a notable overlap in audience shared with The Witcher 3. According to industry analysts at Alinea Analytics, nearly 58 percent of players who have engaged with The Blood of Dawnwalker have also played The Witcher 3. This connection is unsurprising given that Rebel Wolves, the studio behind Dawnwalker, comprises many former developers from CD Projekt Red, the creators of The Witcher series.

The thematic similarities between the games likely contribute to this audience crossover. Both titles feature protagonists with unexpected superpowers navigating worlds that are not always welcoming to them. The Blood of Dawnwalker has also demonstrated strong commercial performance, selling over one million copies within its first three days on sale. Alinea estimates that approximately 410,000 of these sales occurred on Steam, with the game also performing well on GOG.

Further analysis of player data indicates that the United States is the largest market for The Blood of Dawnwalker on Steam, accounting for 34 percent of players. Poland, the home country of both Rebel Wolves and CD Projekt Red, stands as the second-largest market with 11 percent of players, highlighting significant local support. The game also shows player overlap with other recent titles in similar genres, with 13 percent of its players having also engaged with Mortal Shell 2 and 9 percent with Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The growing PC player base has contributed to a developing modding scene for The Blood of Dawnwalker. Currently, the most popular mod addresses the game's main time mechanic. While this mechanic has been a point of discussion, a review noted that the game effectively uses it to create meaningful stakes, even if this brilliance is not consistently applied across the entire experience.
