The Blood of Dawnwalker, a new single-player open-world dark fantasy action RPG, has surpassed one million copies sold within its first two days of release. Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Rebel Wolves confirmed the achievement through the game's official social media channels.
The game launched on September 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Rebel Wolves, a studio founded in 2022 and led by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has reached this milestone with its first major title and a new intellectual property.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set in 14th-century Europe and follows the story of Coen, a character who is human by day and a vampire by night. The narrative is shaped by player choices and unfolds over a 30-day in-game period. The developers have indicated that future installments in the Dawnwalker franchise are planned to span centuries, continents, and cultures, with a CGI teaser suggesting a potential shift to a 21st-century setting in later entries.
While each installment is intended to be a standalone experience without narrative cliffhangers, players may find breadcrumbs related to the overarching saga within the first game. Critical reception for The Blood of Dawnwalker has been strong, with IGN awarding it a 9/10 and describing it as an "impressive, bloody cocktail of interesting ideas and well-written characters, making it one of this year’s best open-world RPGs."
