The vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker has received its substantial 1.1 update, developer Rebel Wolves announced. The patch, which was long-awaited by players, is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. It brings a wide array of changes, including new features, system enhancements, and the highly requested ability to pet cats and dogs.
Rebel Wolves initially revealed plans for the significant post-release patch about a month ago, but the exact release date remained unclear until the studio deployed it earlier today. The update encompasses over 1,100 fixes and improvements, detailed in an extensive list of patch notes. These changes are organized into categories such as new features, gameplay, quests, narrative, art, audio, plugin, and stability.
Among the notable additions are a new difficulty setting, an ability to reset skills, and a "Buyback" feature for merchants. Player feedback has led to improvements in enemy targeting and disengagement. Some specific fixes mentioned include addressing an issue where boar patrols could become immortal and preventing beehives from yielding infinite money. However, a New Game Plus mode, a frequent fan request, is still under consideration by Rebel Wolves with no firm release window.
Looking beyond the current update, Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker is envisioned as the first entry in a series. The studio is actively seeking new talent to contribute to the next chapter, which is planned to feature the protagonist Coen in a different time period. A post-credits scene in the game indicates Coen's survival into modern times, suggesting ample narrative possibilities for future installments.
One of the more divisive mechanics in the game, a time-limiting system that prompts players to face the final boss, may not be carried forward into sequels. Rebel Wolves has indicated that this mechanic is not a mandatory element for future games and will only be included if it fits the design of subsequent titles. The studio is not committed to replicating it in every installment.
