The Blood of Dawnwalker Update to Add Easier Difficulty for Combat-Averse Players

The first major update for The Blood of Dawnwalker, scheduled for an early October release, will add an easier difficulty option intended for players who prefer to avoid combat. Rebel Wolves' game director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, discussed the forthcoming changes in a recent interview, highlighting the new difficulty setting as a key addition.

This new, easier difficulty option will replace the current "Story Mode," which will be renamed and adjusted to a higher difficulty. Currently, the game features four difficulty levels: Story, Fair, Challenging, and Duelist. The addition of this new mode will bring the total to five.

"We will introduce an additional difficulty level, but an easier one, because many people are asking for a more easy difficulty," Tomaszkiewicz stated. "The Story mode which we have right now will be a different difficulty — we will call it Demanding or something like this — and we will add a new Story mode which will be even easier for people who don't want to experience the combat, they just want to learn the story and go through the game without this gameplay challenge."

The specific implementation of this combat-light difficulty remains unclear. However, the developer's comments suggest it will cater to players primarily interested in the game's narrative. Alongside the new difficulty, the update aims to improve overall gameplay performance, particularly for PC users. Rebel Wolves is also addressing player feedback on targeting mechanics and the camera system. Additionally, the studio is considering options for players to more fluidly disengage from combat encounters.

Details on all features included in the October patch are yet to be fully revealed. The Blood of Dawnwalker has seen considerable success since its release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 3, selling over one million copies within its first two days. The game was developed with a $40 million budget.
