Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is venturing into Central Park with its upcoming expansion, "Echoes of Central Park," scheduled for release on November 3. This launch places the new content directly in competition with the highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is set to arrive on November 5. The Division 2's expansion will explore a darker, more ominous version of the iconic New York City location.
Echoes of Central Park Details
The "Echoes of Central Park" expansion reimagines Central Park as a sprawling, overgrown area that was used as a mass burial ground during the initial outbreak. Years later, the park has become a place of mystery and fear, with rumors circulating about unseen threats within its dense woods. Ubisoft has stated that the expansion will lean more heavily into horror elements than previous content, focusing on themes of paranoia and the propagation of urban legends.
The new playable area includes the Upper West Side, extending the map from Lincoln Square to the Dakota District. Players can engage with the campaign solo or in cooperative multiplayer. The expansion introduces three new companions: Brayleigh Callahan, Elwood Franklin, and Morse Feeney, who will join agents in combat.
Players will also encounter a new endgame system where they begin as vulnerable prey, stripped of their usual advantages. As they navigate the dangers of Central Park and acquire new resources, they will gradually regain their footing and eventually become the hunters. The expansion also brings six new skill variants, a new gear set, and a new Exotic weapon called The Ratel.
"Echoes of Central Park" will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. The close release date to the Zelda remake suggests a strategic gamble by Ubisoft, though the distinct genres may allow both titles to find their audience.
