The Duskbloods, an upcoming title from developer FromSoftware, has generated significant player interest, with its recent closed network test attracting more applications than Elden Ring Nightreign's, according to game producer Yasuhiro Kitao. This occurred despite The Duskbloods being exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, while Elden Ring Nightreign's network test was available on multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Kitao revealed the surprising figures during a Famitsu livestream, as reported by GamesRadar. The network tests for both games required advance registration, and not all applicants were guaranteed a spot, making the high number of sign-ups for The Duskbloods particularly noteworthy. The developer team expressed surprise at the response.

Despite the Nintendo Switch 2's smaller installed base compared to the combined audience of the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and the additional PC releases for Elden Ring Nightreign, The Duskbloods' network test achieved higher application numbers. This has led the studio to wonder if the game's day-one player count will reflect this strong initial interest.

The network test for The Duskbloods was not without its issues, with the first session concluding prematurely due to connectivity problems. However, subsequent sessions reportedly ran more smoothly. A release date for The Duskbloods has not yet been announced.
