Bethesda has reiterated its commitment to The Elder Scrolls 6's development roadmap, stating that recent Xbox layoffs will not impact the highly anticipated role-playing game. This assurance comes despite internal reports suggesting the workforce reductions could have significant repercussions on ongoing projects.

The studio addressed fan concerns through responses shared by YouTuber MrMattyPlays, who indicated that Bethesda confirmed the roadmap for The Elder Scrolls 6 is "unaffected." This statement arrives as multiple current staff members at the studio have reportedly claimed the layoffs will have a "substantial and cascading effect" on the game's development. The main Bethesda Game Studios team is said to have lost 50 employees, including individuals in critical roles.

Further evidence of potential impacts can be seen at sister studio ZeniMax Online, which has adjusted its roadmap for The Elder Scrolls Online following the loss of hundreds of workers. Despite these challenges, Bethesda maintains that The Elder Scrolls 6 will proceed as planned.

In addition to updates on The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda also provided information regarding other projects. The developer confirmed that work on remasters is currently focused on the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. Optimizations developed for the Switch version are expected to be brought to console and PC versions as well. This suggests that potential improvements for games like Oblivion Remastered, which still suffers from performance issues on PC and consoles, may be part of this cross-platform optimization effort.

Bethesda also commented on its recent multi-game announcement blog post, which detailed plans for Fallout 5's pre-production, remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and a new Fallout title in development at Obsidian. The studio explained that this comprehensive reveal was a strategic shift in communication, designed to provide fans with a clearer overview of the studio's long-term plans. Bethesda stated that this approach was a response to consistent fan requests for more transparency regarding its development pipeline, and not a directive from Xbox leadership. The Elder Scrolls 6 was initially announced eight years ago and currently has no confirmed release date.
