The next installment in Bethesda's renowned Elder Scrolls series may be titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel, according to a new report. This subtitle has been the subject of speculation for some time, but the latest information lends it greater credence.
Sources indicate that an official title announcement could arrive as soon as next month, potentially coinciding with either the 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or the 25th anniversary of Xbox. The game is reportedly set to take place in the region of Hammerfell and will delve into the history of its titular artifacts, allowing players to uncover their secrets.
While an exact release date remains unknown, this information suggests development is progressing. Speculation points towards a potential 2028 release, though Bethesda has a history of withholding substantial details until closer to launch. The studio has also been known to focus development efforts on one major project at a time; following the release of Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 has become the studio's primary focus.
Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls 6 in 2018, at which point it was in the very early stages of pre-production. The intervening years saw the development of Starfield, which released five years later. With Starfield now shipped, The Elder Scrolls 6 is understood to be receiving the bulk of the development team's attention, even amidst ongoing work on future Fallout titles and Starfield updates.
