Eight years after its initial reveal, The Elder Scrolls VI may be nearing a formal reintroduction, potentially with the subtitle 'Sentinel' and a setting in the Hammerfell region. According to a report from The Verge, Bethesda could officially announce the full title next month as part of Skyrim's 15th anniversary celebration. Hammerfell, a large area southwest of Skyrim, was previously featured as a playable zone in The Elder Scrolls Online.
The report further suggests that the game's narrative will delve into the history of The Elder Scrolls, focusing on uncovering "the secrets of these mysterious ancient artifacts" within Sentinel. While the extent of any potential November showcase remains unknown, gameplay demonstrations are reportedly underway. This follows Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's August statement that she had seen the game, teasing a subtitle that fans subsequently identified as 'Sentinel.' Sharma also described the game's "scale and grandeur" as incredible.
Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard has previously expressed the team's commitment to ensuring The Elder Scrolls VI is executed correctly, with a significant portion of the studio currently dedicated to its development. The question of whether The Elder Scrolls VI will be an Xbox console exclusive remains unaddressed by Sharma, though the studio has adopted a new logo.
