Preorders for the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console and its accompanying accessories have sold out at many major retailers in both the US and UK, with some listings disappearing within minutes of going live.
In the US, retailers like Target, Best Buy, and GameStop offered preorders for the $519.99 special-edition console, a $99.99 Pro Controller, and a $39.99 carrying case. These items quickly became unavailable following Nintendo's dedicated Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct presentation. Amazon and Walmart are among the major US retailers that have yet to open preorders, though listings for the console are already active.
The rapid sell-out has already led to inflated prices on resale markets, with some eBay listings for the special-edition console appearing at $700 to $900, significantly above its retail price.
UK retailers, including Amazon, Nintendo's UK store, and Smyths Toys, have also seen preorders go live, with Nintendo's own storefront experiencing high traffic. An automated queue system is in place for users attempting to access the site.
Alongside the hardware, preorders for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Switch 2 are also available. The game is priced at £58.99 at Nintendo and £54.99 at Smyths. The first print run of the game will feature special shiny foil box art, and Smyths Toys preorders are confirmed to include a textured foil sleeve. Nintendo is also offering a bundle with the game and an exclusive Ocarina of Time Pin for £61.98.
Demand for the limited-edition Zelda hardware appears to have outstripped supply, with many expecting further preorder opportunities to arise. Updates on availability are being closely monitored.
