Nintendo has dedicated a special 30-minute broadcast to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. The "The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct" featured an orchestral rendition of the series' iconic theme music and a montage of gameplay footage spanning its history.

Live-Action Movie Details Revealed

The broadcast included a reveal of the official logo for the upcoming Legend of Zelda live-action movie. Producer Shigeru Miyamoto stated that the film will be an original work inspired by the franchise, necessitating no additional title beyond its namesake. The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters on April 30, 2027. While no trailer was shown, the logo presentation confirmed the film's imminent arrival on the cinematic landscape.

Upcoming Nintendo Direct and Treehouse Stream

In addition to the anniversary celebration, Nintendo also announced a separate, longer Nintendo Direct presentation scheduled for September 9. This forthcoming broadcast will run for 45 minutes and will be followed by a Nintendo Treehouse livestream showcasing gameplay from select titles. While the anniversary Direct focused on Hyrule's past and future movie endeavors, the September 9 Direct and subsequent Treehouse stream are expected to cover broader Nintendo news and gameplay.
