References to Master Quest, a significantly more difficult version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, have been found within the files of its recent Nintendo Switch 2 remake. Dataminers first identified these references on November 6, with further analysis suggesting that the content may require a paid DLC download rather than a standard update.

Master Quest originally debuted as a bonus on a GameCube disc bundled with some copies of The Wind Waker. It was later made available as an unlockable after completing the Nintendo 3DS version of Ocarina of Time. However, it was absent from the remake upon its release for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The potential addition of Master Quest as DLC aligns with comments made by series producer Eiji Aonuma. When asked by IGN about the possibility of Master Quest being developed post-launch, Aonuma stated that Nintendo wants to "leave that possibility open to them and support their interests" when developers consider future content.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is currently available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
