Dark Horse will release The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Secrets of the Zonai on October 20, offering fans a comprehensive behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the acclaimed 2023 title. This new 472-page hardcover book expands upon Dark Horse's previous Zelda reference works and serves as a companion to titles like The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia and 2018's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — Creating a Champion.

According to publisher Dark Horse, Secrets of the Zonai will feature approximately 50 pages of illustrations, character art, and promotional images. Nearly 300 pages are dedicated to development insights, including sketches, rough designs, concept art, and recollections from the game's creation process. An additional 80 pages will delve into Hyrule's history, providing context for the Zonai civilization and their connection to the game's events. The book also includes interviews with key development staff, such as producer Eiji Aonuma, director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and art director Satoru Takizawa.

The release will be available in two editions. The Standard Edition, priced at an MSRP of $59.99, includes all the book's content. A Deluxe Hero's Edition will cost $119.99 and comes with the book featuring an exclusive cover, a cloth map of the Depths, an art print depicting Link and the Sages, and a replica of Zelda's Secret Stone. Both editions are currently available for pre-order through Dark Horse.
