The Mummy 4 Officially Titled The Mummy: Book of the Dead

Universal Pictures has officially announced the title for the next film in the Mummy franchise: The Mummy: Book of the Dead. The movie is slated for release on October 15, 2027, exactly one year from the announcement date. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are confirmed to reprise their roles as Rick and Evie O’Connell.

Several other cast members are also expected to return, including John Hannah, Michael Johnston, Numan Acar, Kevin J. O’Connor, and Oded Fehr. Fehr has shared glimpses of his character, Ardeth Bay, on social media, and set photos have shown Fraser and Weisz in costume. The film will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, with David Coggeshall penning the screenplay. Sean Daniel, a producer on all previous Mummy films, is also attached to produce.

The title, The Mummy: Book of the Dead, along with Fehr's return, suggests a potential plot involving the resurfacing of the antagonist Imhotep, a character central to the original films. The Book of the Dead, an ancient tome featured in the first Mummy movie, possesses spells capable of resurrection and summoning warriors, and it last appeared in The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption. Fehr's character, Ardeth Bay, a warrior tasked with guarding against such ancient evils, was notably absent from 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, with Fehr previously stating his character's involvement hinges on Imhotep's presence.
