Free League Publishing's latest crowdfunding campaign for The One Ring tabletop roleplaying game has achieved remarkable success, raising over $1.1 million from nearly 5,000 backers. Launched on Hobbit Day, the campaign surpassed its initial $50,000 goal within an hour and has continued its impressive trajectory with 23 days still remaining.
The campaign is funding an updated edition of The One Ring, which allows players to embark on their own adventures within J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. In addition to the revised Core Rules, the campaign introduces new expansions such as "The White Tower and the Hall of Gold," focusing on the realm of Rohan, and "Creatures Strange and Foul," a new bestiary.
A significant addition included in the updated game is "Strider Mode," which provides rules for solo play, enabling individuals to adventure through Middle-earth independently. The campaign has also unlocked numerous stretch goals, including printed maps of Rohan and Gondor, Minas Tirith, new adversaries like Hobgoblins, a bonus landmark, and cardboard standees. Special Collector's Editions are also available exclusively through the crowdfunding period.
This surge in support highlights the enduring appeal of Middle-earth and provides fans with new avenues to explore Tolkien's legendary world through tabletop roleplaying.
