Prime Video has unveiled a first teaser for The Rings of Power season 3, hinting at Sauron's full transformation into a dark lord and escalating the conflict across Middle-earth. The preview, shown to fans at San Diego Comic-Con, featured the arrival of four Nazgûl, the dreaded Ringwraiths of the Second Age, awaiting Sauron's command.
Following two seasons where his identity was concealed and his schemes focused on manipulating the elven smith Celebrimbor, the new footage depicts Sauron, portrayed by Charlie Vickers, embracing his villainous persona. The season concluded with Sauron forging the nine rings for men, and these, along with one of their mounts, are prominently featured in the teaser. The trailer also shows the consequences for those who resist.
Galadriel, played by Morfydd Clark, continues her efforts to thwart Sauron, now allied with the wood elf Arondir and a mysterious orc named Marnukh. Five years have passed since the elven city of Eregion fell in season 2. The elven realms, protected by their own rings, stand as some of the last bastions against Sauron's growing power. Even the dwarves of Khazad-dûm face peril, as depicted by an unwelcome visit from Sauron's lieutenants to King Durin IV.
The season promises increased action as Galadriel races against time to prevent Sauron from forging the One Ring in Mount Doom. The narrative is also expanding its cast with notable additions. Jamie Campbell Bower, known for "Stranger Things," will portray Galadriel's long-lost husband, Celeborn. Additionally, Simon Pegg will lend his voice to the Balrog.
The Rings of Power season 3 is set to premiere on Prime Video with its first four episodes on November 11. Episodes five and six will be released on November 18, followed by the final two episodes on November 25.
