The Rings of Power Season 3 Trailer Unleashes Middle-earth's War Against Sauron

The flames of war threaten Middle-earth once again in the trailer for season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Prime Video's fantasy series will officially return to streaming on November 11, as Sauron's schemes finally come to fruition and the free peoples of the world are forced to choose between submission and resistance.

In the first two seasons, The Rings of Power explored Middle-earth's Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Sauron's treachery led the elven smith Celebrimor to forge the Rings of Power, but neither the elves, dwarves, nor the humans of Numenor were aware that the Dark Lord was secretly forging his own One Ring to rule them all.

Season 3 Promises Epic Confrontations

The series has already offered a glimpse of Sauron's growing power with a teaser of the Naznagôl, the show's original take on the Nazgûl. These corrupted lords of men represent a proto-stage of the Ringwraiths. Following the fall of Eregion, the remaining strongholds of freedom—Numenor, Khazad-dûm, and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell—must unite to confront the Dark Lord and his armies.

Showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay return for the third season, with director Charlotte Brändström. The first four episodes will premiere on November 11 on Prime Video. Episodes five and six will be available on November 18, followed by the final two episodes on November 25.

The epic trailer showcases significant action, including a confrontation with a Balrog, and high-stakes drama. While The Rings of Power may not be the most direct adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's lore, the show has cultivated a dedicated fanbase and proven to be a commercial success for Prime Video. The series is planned to run for a total of five seasons.
