Netflix and AMC have finalized a significant multi-year agreement that will bring the entirety of The Walking Dead universe to the streaming platform globally starting in 2027. The deal, reportedly valued at $500 million, secures streaming rights for all 177 episodes of the original series, along with its various spinoffs. In total, 371 episodes from the franchise will become available on Netflix.
This expansion includes streaming rights for Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales of The Walking Dead. These shows will debut on Netflix in new territories such as the U.K., Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, with a global rollout planned for 2027.
The original The Walking Dead series, which premiered in 2010 and concluded after 11 seasons, has been a staple on Netflix in the U.S. since 2011. Its first major spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, launched in 2015 and ran for eight seasons. AMC continues to produce new content within the universe, including The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the latter of which is slated to end with its fourth season in 2027.
Kristin Dolan, CEO of AMC Global Media, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership, stating that the deal establishes a worldwide destination for the franchise and enhances accessibility for fans. The agreement also permits the original series to stream on AMC Plus, AMC's own streaming service, for the first time in early 2027. Lori Conkling, vice president of licensing at Netflix, highlighted the enduring popularity of The Walking Dead on the platform and the opportunity to reach new audiences through this expanded global offering.
