The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update Receives Patch for Overly Bright Visuals

CD Projekt Red has released a patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered to address player feedback regarding its visual presentation, particularly issues with brightness. The update is available for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version of the game.

The patch introduces "various lighting adjustments" aimed at correcting visuals that many players found to be excessively bright. CD Projekt Red acknowledged the community's concerns, noting that the remaster had made some interiors appear too dark while other areas were too bright. The developer also mentioned that a separate hotfix is in development for PC to resolve a reported save game issue.

While the patch notes were brief, they indicated that the fixes might be related to the game's bloom setting. Players on PC had suggested disabling bloom to improve contrast, a setting not previously available on consoles. This patch likely implements such a change for console players, though it does not introduce a specific toggle for the bloom effect. The update does not currently extend to the Nintendo Switch version.

Beyond the lighting adjustments, players have also raised concerns about the game's HDR implementation, path tracing quality, and overall PC performance. CD Projekt Red has not yet announced plans to address these specific areas, but the release of this patch demonstrates an awareness of the most prominent issues impacting the player experience.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launched as a free update for existing owners, bringing enhancements such as improved character animations, increased world detail, and refined combat and role-playing systems. Looking ahead, an expansion titled "Songs of the Past" is slated for release in 2027 and is planned to connect with the narrative of The Witcher 4, which is currently in development.
