The Witcher 3 PC Remastered Gets Hotfix for Lighting and Other Issues

CD Projekt Red has released a second hotfix for The Witcher 3 Remastered edition on PC, aiming to resolve player concerns about recent lighting changes and other technical issues.

This latest patch, hotfix 5.00c, specifically introduces "various visual adjustments in Velen, including tweaks to Bloom, vegetation lighting, saturation, and path tracing lighting." These elements have been points of contention for some players since the extensive Remastered update was deployed.

Beyond the visual modifications, the hotfix also addresses an audio bug that caused voiceover volume to become significantly quieter after navigating through the game's pause menu tabs. The patch notes indicate several other fixes, including an issue where the game could not be saved or loaded if the path to the Documents folder contained special characters. It also reverts a change that negatively impacted performance and visuals when HairWorks was enabled for certain users. Additionally, fixes are included for marketing telemetry settings, GOG achievements not appearing, and the inability to launch the classic (1.32) version of the game.

This PC-focused hotfix follows a similar patch released the previous day, which was also angled towards consoles and included "various lighting adjustments." The substantial Witcher 3 Remastered update, released earlier this week, brought significant visual enhancements, improved animations, altered enemy behaviors, and revamped the game's skill tree. CD Projekt Red's decision to provide these extensive updates, especially free of charge years after the game's initial release, has been acknowledged as a generous undertaking.
