CD Projekt Red's recent remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has propelled the game to a new all-time peak in concurrent players on Steam. The title reached a high of 123,359 players, a substantial increase from its previous August peak of just over 30,000. This surge demonstrates the enduring appeal of the decade-old open-world RPG, now enhanced with next-generation features.
The free upgrade, available to existing owners of the base game, has drawn players back to the Continent. The remaster includes various visual and performance enhancements, alongside new content inspired by the Netflix series.
When PC Gamer's Shaun Prescott reviewed the original release in 2015, he awarded it 92%, describing it as "a big, beautiful, sprawling action RPG full of rich stories, and suffused with an oppressive darkness." He noted that while it might not have introduced groundbreaking new mechanics, it refined existing RPG elements with exceptional grace.
Currently, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also featured in Steam's autumn sale, offered at half its usual price. For players looking to dive into the remastered experience or revisit Geralt's adventures, numerous community mods have already been updated for compatibility with the new version. Guides are also available to help players enhance Geralt's fashion sense within the game.
