The Witcher 3 Remastered Gets Patch 5.01 Addressing Bloom and PC Graphics Issues

CD Projekt Red has released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, introducing a variety of fixes and improvements. The update addresses long-standing issues with the game's bloom effect and other lighting elements, as well as several PC-specific graphical problems.

Previously, players on PC could circumvent distracting bloom issues by disabling the effect in the game's settings, though this altered the intended visual presentation of the remaster. The new patch claims to offer improvements to the bloom effect itself, alongside enhancements to tone mapping, character lighting, ray tracing, and path tracing.

PC users also experienced several other graphical glitches that have now been resolved. These include instances where unsupported graphics settings could be enabled, the game defaulting to the incorrect GPU, or DLSS/XeSS being applied on incompatible hardware when changing graphics presets. Additionally, a bug where the GTAO Quality setting would reset upon game restart has been fixed.

The patch also brings gameplay adjustments, such as improved ladder interaction animations. Geralt will no longer collide with deceased enemies after executing the Aard finisher. Vesemir's dialogue will not repeat excessively when Quen is cast multiple times. Dodging will now be more responsive, as it was previously subject to random delays, and Geralt's stamina will no longer be fully depleted when sprinting and dodging simultaneously. A comprehensive list of all changes is available in the official patch notes.
