The Witcher 3 Remastered Gets Patch 5.01, Addressing Bugs and Enhancing Console Features

CD Projekt Red has released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3 Remastered, bringing a host of fixes and improvements to the PC and console versions of the game. The update addresses numerous gameplay bugs, enhances UI elements, and introduces new graphical options for console players.

Console Enhancements and PC Fixes

The patch adds several lighting-related options to the console versions, including Bloom, Light Shafts, and Depth of Field, allowing players to customize their visual experience. Performance optimizations have also been implemented, alongside fixes for voiceover volume and incorrect frame rate limits on PlayStation 5. For PC users, the update resolves issues with graphics settings, GPU selection, and dynamic resolution scaling.

Gameplay and UI Improvements

Several gameplay bugs have been squashed in patch 5.01. These include fixes for an issue where Geralt's stamina would deplete unexpectedly during sprinting and dodging, an improvement to ladder interaction animations, and preventing player-controlled boats from moving uncontrollably. The mentor Vesemir will no longer repeat lines unnecessarily, and issues with the 'Automatically Apply Blade Oils' feature and the Synergy skill have been corrected. Additionally, the Exploding Shield skill now reflects damage, and the 'You've gained an ability point!' pop-up will no longer remain stuck on screen.

Switch 2 Version in Development

CD Projekt Red also confirmed that an update is in the works for the Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3 Remastered. This patch aims to bring the Switch version closer in parity with other platforms and will focus on improving image clarity and sharpness. More details regarding the Switch 2 patch are expected in the coming days.

Ongoing Development and Future Content

The release of patch 5.01 follows the recent free update that revitalized the game, drawing millions of players back. CD Projekt Red continues its patching efforts to address player feedback, including concerns about visual changes in the remaster. These updates precede the arrival of 'Songs of the Past,' an unprecedented third expansion for the 12-year-old RPG, which will add a new region and a story focused on Dandelion and his family.
