CD Projekt Red has deployed two hotfixes for the recently released remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, addressing significant player-reported issues. The patches aim to resolve problems with saving games and audio discrepancies that emerged shortly after the remastered version's launch on September 29.
The first hotfix, patch 5.00b, focused on various graphical improvements. According to an official blog post, this patch included lighting adjustments, a fix for a DLSS issue affecting Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, and brought console versions closer to their PC counterparts. CD Projekt Red indicated at the time that a PC-specific fix was also in development.
This was followed by patch 5.00c, specifically targeting PC versions of the game available on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and via Xbox Play Anywhere. This second hotfix addresses two critical bugs. One prevented players from saving or loading their games if their Documents folder path contained special characters. The other resolved an audio bug where the game's voiceover would become significantly quieter than other audio elements after pausing the game. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that both of these issues are now fixed. While a console version of the voiceover fix is planned, no release date has been provided yet.
Looking ahead, CD Projekt Red has announced further content for The Witcher universe. An all-new expansion for The Witcher 3, titled "Songs of the Past," is set to launch next year. This expansion is being co-developed with Fool's Theory and will introduce a new region, with its scope expected to be comparable to the previous Blood and Wine expansion.
Development is also underway for the next main installment in the series, The Witcher 4, with CD Projekt Red at the helm and a projected release in 2028. Notably, Ciri will be the protagonist for this sequel, taking over from Geralt. Separately, Fool's Theory is working on a remake of the original The Witcher game, but this project is currently secondary to "Songs of the Past" and "The Witcher 4," leaving its release timeline uncertain.
