The Witcher 3 Remastered Patch 5.01 Addresses Visual Issues, Adds Customization Options

CD Projekt Red has released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, a few weeks after the game's launch, to address visual issues and add requested graphics options. The update targets improvements for PC and current-generation consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Players had reported that the visual enhancements in the remaster, particularly the bloom effect, made the environments appear washed out. Patch 5.01 introduces adjustments to bloom, ray tracing, character lighting, and tone mapping. For players who prefer not to use bloom, the setting can now be toggled off in the game's options menu. Console players also gain the ability to modify light shafts and depth of field, features previously exclusive to the PC version. These changes are accompanied by performance optimizations, aiming for a smoother visual experience on all platforms.

PC users will also see fixes related to dynamic resolution scaling. CD Projekt Red is also developing a separate version of the remaster for the Nintendo Switch, though a release date has not been announced. This update comes as many players discovered ways to obtain the game on Switch for free.

Despite the improvements, the game's forums still show players reporting various bugs and requesting further changes. Given the game's scale, it is expected that CD Projekt Red will continue to address feedback in future patches. The full list of changes for patch 5.01 can be found on The Witcher's official website.
