The Witcher 3 Remastered Patch Addresses Lighting Concerns

CD Projekt Red has released a new patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, addressing player feedback regarding lighting adjustments and other concerns since the next-gen version's launch this week. The update is available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC Xbox Play Anywhere edition.

The patch notes indicate that the update includes "various lighting adjustments," aiming to resolve issues such as some interiors appearing too dark. CD Projekt Red also stated that it made "various other adjustments to ensure parity with the PC version."

Previously, players on PC could disable certain graphical settings like Bloom, which were not available on consoles. This update may bring console versions closer to the PC experience in this regard. Graphical features such as path tracing and HDR have been noted as potentially contributing to the perceived brightness issues.

In addition to the lighting changes, the patch also fixes an issue where DLSS was unavailable on the PC Xbox Play Anywhere version of the game. CD Projekt Red mentioned it is also preparing a hotfix for the PC version to address a save-game issue and continues to investigate player-reported problems through its technical support portal.

The Witcher 3 Remastered, which is a free upgrade for existing owners, offers significant visual enhancements, animation improvements, and quality-of-life changes. These updates are part of the ongoing development for the game, which includes a planned third expansion titled "Songs of the Past," expected next year.
