CD Projekt Red has announced a new, full-fledged expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled "Songs of the Past," slated for release next year. The developer revealed the content during Gamescom Opening Night Live, alongside a surprise "Remastered" patch for the base game, which is set to launch on September 29.

The upcoming expansion will see Geralt embark on a new adventure in a region called Letten, where dark secrets lie beneath the surface. The trailer offered a first glimpse of this new area and introduced a weapon type new to the games: the chain whip, a weapon previously featured in the Witcher books.

While a firm release date for "Songs of the Past" has not yet been provided, the trailer confirmed its arrival for "next year." This expansion marks a significant continuation of the game's story, arriving more than a decade after its initial release.
