CD Projekt Red has released an EP featuring five new tracks from the upcoming Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion, Songs of the Past. The collection, titled "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past (Original Soundtrack Gamescom 2026 EP)", is now available on all major music streaming services. These tracks were originally showcased during CD Projekt Red's Gamescom presentation earlier this year.
The EP's full tracklist includes "Return to the Path" by Magda Urbańska, "Awoken" by Magda Urbańska, "Into Darkness" by Daniel Elms, "What’s Done" by Marcin Przybyłowicz, and "Belleteyn Night" by Magda Urbańska.
Marcin Przybyłowicz, who served as lead composer for the base Witcher 3 game and its previous expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, returns for the new content. He is joined by newcomers Magda Urbańska and Daniel Elms. Urbańska expressed her excitement and sense of responsibility in contributing to the soundtrack, noting the profound impact The Witcher 3's original music had on her.
Upcoming Expansion Details
Songs of the Past is set to introduce an entirely new region, story, monsters, and quests to The Witcher 3. This new content will be comparable in scope to the 2016 Blood and Wine expansion. The narrative will see Geralt emerging from retirement to investigate a hidden, sinister secret within the seemingly idyllic land of Letten.
Development for Songs of the Past is a collaboration between CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory. Fool's Theory, a studio comprised of many individuals who previously worked on The Witcher 3, is also developing the upcoming remake of the original Witcher game. The Songs of the Past expansion is slated for release in 2027, though a specific launch date has not yet been announced.
This release follows closely on the heels of The Witcher 3 Remastered, which brought a significant number of updates and fixes to the decade-old RPG. The remaster is a free upgrade for existing owners and also includes its two major expansions at no additional cost.
