CD Projekt Red has announced that the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled "Songs of the Past," will receive its reveal during Gamescom's Opening Night Live event on August 25. The expansion, originally slated for 2027, is being co-developed with Fool's Theory, the studio also handling the remake of the first Witcher game.

This new content is described as being "a little bit closer to Blood and Wine" in scope, referring to the game's second major expansion. CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski previously stated in May that the team was working on a "proper big expansion," emphasizing that its size would depend on player engagement and playthrough choices. While "Songs of the Past" was initially planned for release this year, the studio made the decision to push it to 2027.

In addition to the "Songs of the Past" expansion, Nowakowski also hinted that other Witcher 3 content is in advanced production and is slated for release sometime this year. These additional updates are not expected to be on the same scale as the major expansion. The prospect of new content for a game released over a decade ago has generated significant interest, with CD Projekt Red aiming to revitalize the acclaimed 2015 title.
