The Witcher 3 Switch 2 Patch Still in Development, CD Projekt Red Confirms

CD Projekt Red has released a hotfix for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's remastered edition on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. Update 5.01b brings "various stability improvements to help ensure a more reliable experience," according to the patch notes.

While this update addresses stability on PlayStation consoles, CD Projekt Red has also taken to X (formerly Twitter) to reassure players that a patch for the Nintendo Switch 2 is still in development. The studio stated, "We're working on getting the Nintendo Switch 2 patch to all users as soon as possible." This upcoming patch is expected to enhance the game's visual clarity and sharpness on the new hardware.

The release of The Witcher 3's extensive remaster has seen CD Projekt Red actively addressing player feedback since its launch. The update significantly overhauls the game's visuals, animations, skills, and even some gameplay elements, marking a substantial overhaul for a title released over a decade ago. The free upgrade has been described as an "extraordinarily generous" offering, though some players have expressed concerns about changes, such as an initial increase in brightness, which have since been mitigated by subsequent patches.

Analysis from Digital Foundry has provided a detailed look at the PC version's performance, including suggestions for optimized settings and tracking the demanding path tracing implementation. These visual enhancements are being made in anticipation of the "Songs of the Past" expansion, slated for release next year. This new content will introduce a new region, extensive gameplay, and a story centered around Geralt's companion, Dandelion. Early impressions of the expansion have been positive.
