CD Projekt Red has announced a remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, scheduled for release on September 29 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This upgraded version will be available as a free download for players who already own the game on previous-generation consoles. The remaster includes a host of enhancements such as improved controls, a revamped skill tree, a new photo mode, and the integration of both previous expansions.
Alongside the remastered edition, a new story expansion, "Songs of the Past," has been detailed. Described as being comparable in size and scope to the game's prior expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, "Songs of the Past" is currently slated for a 2027 release, a slight shift from its previously planned 2026 launch. While details remain scarce, the expansion is expected to be the third story-driven addition to the 2015 title.
Further into the future, CD Projekt Red also provided an update on The Witcher 4, confirming that the project is targeting a 2028 release. This upcoming installment will reportedly shift focus from Geralt to Ciri as the main protagonist. The developer shared these updates as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live, offering players a glimpse into the continued evolution of the celebrated RPG franchise.
