CD Projekt Red has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, a free upgrade for players who already own the acclaimed 2015 RPG. The update aims to enhance both the game's visual presentation and its core gameplay mechanics.

The remaster introduces significant graphical improvements, making the game world appear more vibrant. A new photo mode is also being added to capture the enhanced visuals. Beyond the aesthetic upgrades, the remaster includes a comprehensive list of gameplay updates. Combat has been reworked with "enhanced monster behaviors" and new finisher animations. Traversal mechanics have also been improved, with Geralt now able to vault over fences and scale ladders more quickly. The horse riding system has been tweaked, featuring new animations to reflect the rider's balance.

Further gameplay enhancements include a revamped skill tree and reworked item management. A new transmogrification feature will allow players to alter Geralt's visual armor appearance independently of his equipped gear's stats. Owners of the base game will also gain free access to the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.

This remaster is slated for release on September 29. CD Projekt Red also detailed future plans for The Witcher franchise, including a new expansion for The Witcher 3, titled "Songs of the Past," scheduled for 2027, and The Witcher 4 planned for a 2028 release.
