CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 4 is currently targeted for release in 2028. The confirmation came from CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski in a video message shared by the studio.

Nowakowski described the upcoming title as CD Projekt Red's "biggest, boldest, and most ambitious game to date," with over 500 developers reportedly working on the project. This 2028 window aligns with expectations derived from recent financial reports from the studio, which suggested a release in the latter half of the decade rather than in the immediate future.

While The Witcher 4 remains several years away, players will soon receive new content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The upcoming DLC, titled "Songs of the Past," is slated for a full reveal during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Nowakowski offered a brief tease, describing the DLC's narrative as featuring a "dark story," a hallmark of the franchise's established dark fantasy setting.

This announcement was made as CD Projekt Red prepared to engage with the gaming community at Gamescom, underscoring their ongoing commitment to the acclaimed Witcher series.
