Nightdive Studios' upcoming remaster of the original Thief game is shaping up to be a faithful reimagining, but PC Gamer is already looking ahead to a potential remake of Thief 2: The Metal Age.
The publication argues that if Nightdive were to tackle a Thief 2 remaster, it should adopt the "Gold" moniker, a naming convention previously used by Looking Glass Studios for enhanced editions of their games. This would align with the practice used for the original Thief, which received a similarly treated "Gold" edition.
This proposed "Thief 2 Gold" would ideally incorporate five new missions, drawing from old Looking Glass Studios documentation. PC Gamer believes that Nightdive, with its access to archival materials and former personnel, is uniquely positioned to bring these concepts to life with a level of polish that even the most skilled fan mission creators might not achieve. This vision, they contend, would result in a "legendarily great bit" of content, justifying the marketing decision to call it "Thief 2 Gold."
