Ron Gilbert, co-creator of the classic adventure game Maniac Mansion and the more recent Thimbleweed Park, has announced that Thimbleweed Park 2 is in development and is scheduled for release in early 2028. The game will be self-published with the assistance of a private investor.

Gilbert stated that many members of the original development team are returning for the sequel, including Mark Ferrari, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Octavi Navarro, and Robert Megone. He plans to maintain a development blog, similar to the one used for the original Thimbleweed Park, to provide regular updates.

The Steam page for Thimbleweed Park 2 describes the game as "more Thimbleweed Park than ever" and "not really a sequel, not really a prequel." The narrative appears to focus on agents Ray and Reyes investigating a dead body at Edmund Mansion. Character details also hint at the return of Ransome, Delores, and Franklin, with dialogue suggesting their involvement in the new mystery.

While details remain scarce, the game is slated for a 2028 release. Players can add Thimbleweed Park 2 to their wishlist on Steam.
