Unveiled at TGS 2026, this new title from developer Grim Ronin is described as a "stealth action retro-cyberpunk immersive sim with survival horror and RPG elements," aiming to capture the spirit of the beloved Deus Ex series.
The game places players in the role of Reiko Kimura, a mercenary trapped within a densely fortified district of Tokyo, drawing inspiration from the notorious Kowloon Walled City. The visual style also pays homage to Blade Runner, evident in the trailer's opening sequence that directly references the film's iconic "Coke billboard" scene.
Tokyo Walled City features a range of classic immersive sim mechanics, including vent crawling, security camera disabling, hacking, and stealth takedowns. The gameplay also incorporates elements reminiscent of Dishonored, with Reiko exhibiting greater agility than traditional Deus Ex protagonists, capable of rooftop traversal and swift blade assassinations.
Grim Ronin promises a "hand-crafted vertical city full of freeform exploration" in the full release, alongside stealth and sound mechanics that carefully track visibility and noise. Players will have access to tools such as silent pistols, high-tech traps, and grappling hooks. While no release date has been specified, Tokyo Walled City is planned for an early access launch, with a public alpha expected in 18 to 24 months.
